Camp Description:

Pack ForestCome and join us here at EdTech Boot Camps for a three day Drupal event in the woods of the pacific northwest. You may ask, what is Drupal? Drupal is a leading free and open source content management system, or in other words an easy way to manage any size of web site. With Drupal you can accomplish anything your heart desires when it comes to web design. With Drupal all of your users can have their own blog, you can have slide shows, electronic news letters, videos and social networking components. You can assign users that can edit only one page, only pages in a specific department or all the pages on the site. You can even use Drupal as your district portal where staff need to login to see specific types of content. If you can dream it, you can do it with Drupal. Two examples of Drupal sites are the http://www.whitehouse.gov and http://myplay.com/. Check them out!

This boot camp runs for three full days. During this time camp participants will:

  • Do a full Drupal install
  • Install a number of 3rd party modules
  • Upgrade a site including any 3rd pary modules that have been added
  • Learn about blocks and Drupal layout
  • Learn how to create various menus
  • Learn about Drupal permissions
  • Learn about user management
  • Learn how to categorize your content
  • Learn how to create different content types using the CCK (Content Construction Kit) Module
  • Learn how to display content in different ways using the views module
  • Learn the basics of customizing your own theme

The camp will also answer questions from participants related to the particular needs of your school, district or business.

This camp will only run with a minimum of 10 participants ( The camp chef won't get out of bed for any less than 10 Wink )
