Online learning better than face to face?

A new report that was prepared for the United States Department of Education says "...on average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face-to-face instruction." The report goes on to state that there isn't much actual research based evidence in the k-12 arena to support this statement, but that with adults and students in higher education this is the case. I would venture a guess, based on my experiences with online learning, that the results would be the same in k-12. It was also interesting to note what an impact that e-learning has in blended classroom environments. I have to say that the option of having blended learning environments with the traditional face to face and the online components is the reason I pushed so hard to get Moodle going in my previous district. Blended learning is just so incredibly powerful! To read the report point your browser to: http://www.ed.gov/rschstat/eval/tech/evidence-based-practices/finalreport.pdf  I will also post the document here on my site as well at http://k12opensourcehelp.com/files/webfm/documents/onlinelearningbetterf2f.pdf. Enjoy the read!
